What Courses Should I Take?
Students in the College of Arts and Sciences have only a few specific course requirements during the first year: a First-Year Writing course and a Big Questions Seminar. A typical course load is 14 to 17 credits with a minimum of 12 credits required for full-time student status.
The College of Arts & Sciences has a number of sample schedules for every major within their college available on their website. You are encouraged to review these and use them as a guide prior to registering for fall classes.
Please note: If you plan to major in Chemistry, Biochemistry, one of the Biological Sciences, or follow the pre-health track, your fall schedule must include CHM 030 or 040. The first biology core course, BIOS 041, and accompanying lab, BIOS 042, are offered in the spring semester and have CHM 030 or 040 as a prerequisite.
