Scheduling Considerations
- You have more autonomy with schedule building so try to think about how your days will look as you build your schedule and what works with you!
- PHY 011/12 - are commonly taken but they don’t have to be. Some students opt to split this up and take PHY 012 in spring due to the large time commitment of labs.
- The grades received in 4 credit courses will weigh more on GPA. Additionally, 4 credit courses tend to have common hour exams so may want to restrict the schedule to only two 4 credit courses to limit the amount of exams. You can take ECO 001 in spring and still be on track with the business core.
AP/Transfer credit:
We generally advise that students with AP/Transfer accept these credits rather than retaking the course at Lehigh. The one exception is for students with credit for Math 021 and 022 (Calc I and II). Many IBE students in the past have jumped right into Math 023 (Calc III) in the first semester. Our experience has been that about half of our students do quite well (A, A-, B+) while the other half do not. Please consider carefully your confidence in calculus when making the decision of starting in Math 023 or Math 022. Should you want to gauge your preparedness - take the ALEKS placement exam!
