Below you will find a first-semester sample schedule for a bioengineering student. Students may have variations to this schedule due to incoming AP or transfer credit and are encouraged to review the engineering sample schedules for some of those variations. Remember, when viewing those additional sample schedules, bioengineering students must enroll in CHM 030 (unless you have incoming credit for CHM 030) during their first semester.
No AP or Transfer Credit
Course | Course Title | Credits |
---|---|---|
ENGR 095 | Introduction to Engineering | 1 |
CHM 030 | Introduction to Chemical Principles | 4 |
ENGR 010 | Applied Engineering Computer Methods | 2 |
MATH 021 | Calculus I | 4 |
ENGL 001 | Critical Reading and Composition | 3 |
TOTAL: | 14 |
Your schedule will look similar to this, however, due to AP, SAT, and transfer credit, you may be eligible to register for more advanced courses.
The standard load for a first semester bioengineering student is 14-15 credits, or four major courses.
Bioengineering Scheduling Guide
The extensive amount of courses and variety of course meeting times may make scheduling seem overwhelming, but by following the tips below, you will be able to create a schedule that allows you to successfully begin your academic career at Lehigh!
- Review the sample schedules on the Engineering page of the First-Year Student Website for an idea of the courses you should be registering for based on potential AP or transfer credit.
- Develop a few schedules with varying times! Although you may not get into your first class choice, we will make sure that you can register for all of the classes you need.
- Be sure to create a full-time (12 credit minimum) schedule with the primary classes you need. If necessary, you will be able to make changes to your schedule when you come to campus in the fall.
In order to help ease the schedule building process, we recommend that you select courses in the following order: (Note: This is a guide to help you plan, but it is not required that you register in this order.)
- Register for ENGR 095. This course is required.
- Register for ENGR 010.
- Register for CHM 030. Avoid selecting sections with Monday afternoon labs, as these will conflict with BIOE 001.
- Select a section of MATH 021 (or an upper-level calculus course if AP credit was received).
- Select your section of ENGL 001. There are multiple sections of this course available at varying times, so it will be easiest to fit this course into your plan once you’ve secured your other courses.
